Newcomers High School Crowned Inaugural PSAL Cricket Champion

The Public School Athletic League (PSAL) of New York City concludes its Inaugural Cricket Program in grand style Sunday, June 1, 2008 with its championship match at the picturesque Gateway Park, Brooklyn, New York.
The inaugural season concluded the way it had started with Newcomers High School victorious over John Adams High School. However, this time it was for the championship.
The PSAL Cricket Program, a dream that came true for many in this part of the world, could not have asked for a better inaugural championship match. The live ball-by-ball commentary throughout the match was simply awesome.
On a glorious day for cricket, John Adams High School won the toss and sent in Newcomers High School to bat first.
Newcomers HS was of to a flying start — scoring more than 10 runs per over after the first seven overs of their inning.
USACA president, Mr. Gladstone Dainty, congratulated the PSAL administrators and participating schools for a job well done.

Awards:
Champion: Newcomers High School
Runner-up: John Adams High School
MVP: Git Das – Newcomers High School
Best Batsman: Kamaljit Singh – John Adams HS
Best Bowler: Hugh Craig – John Adams HS
